What you’ll do

As a Cloud Engineer - Data Platform, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. You work closely with a portfolio of digital product teams. You understand the product strategies, roadmaps, and operational requirements. You design operating models, from risk modeling and business impacts, to release, support processes and SLAs. You deploy, automate, and operate critical pieces of cloud infrastructures. You showcase and raise awareness about the SRE ways of working within your business vertical. You contribute to the community of Cloud, Platform and Site Reliability Engineers across Eneco, defining best practices, authoring inner-source code repositories, assessing new technologies and adequacy of our ways of working. 

Is this about you?

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience in digital product organizations, making impact as an individual contributor. 

  • Expertise in cloud engineering, networking, software security, release and operations management. 

  • Significant exposure to large public clouds, ideally Azure. 

  • Mastery of Kubernetes and infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible). 

  • Experience deploying and operating distributed data processing or streaming systems (e.g. Spark, Kafka). 

  • Excellent software engineering skills and practitioner of agile software development. 

  • A high level of initiative and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. 

  • A genuine care for climate neutrality. 

  • You need to be currently based in the Netherlands to apply for this opportunity.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Cloud architecture: Bring your expertise in public clouds. Work with other software engineers to devise the right cloud infrastructure for your digital product, considering security, availability, latency, and performance requirements.  

  • Release management: Develop agile and efficient software development life cycles. Design source code branching strategies. Automate integration and deployment pipelines, from version control to production environments. 

  • Operational excellence: Work closely with the product manager and business stakeholders to assess business impact, non-functional requirements, and shape support models. Contribute to authoring operational runbooks and emergency response plans. 

  • Monitoring and capacity planning: Instrument the technical stack end-to-end, from web applications to virtual machines. Develop alerting mechanisms. Plan for capacity adjustments. 

  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor engineers across the organization by providing technical guidance, pair programming, code reviews, and sharing best practices. 

  • Collaboration and communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, analysts, product managers and business stakeholders. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and facilitate knowledge sharing.

What we have to offer

Gross annual salary between €79.000 and €108.000

Including FlexBudget, 8% holiday allowance, and depending on your role a bonus or collective profit sharing.
