I'm in for development

Jessie Hendrikx, Sr. Specialist Learning & Development
Getting people and organizations moving – that’s Jessie Hendrikx’s passion. Ten years ago, Jessie started as an HR Business Partner at Eneco. Today, she has been working in the Learning & Development domain for seven years, designing development interventions for teams and individuals. This includes the Eneco Development Programme, which she is now participating in herself.
Jessie: “The time has come! I’m about to participate in the Eneco Development Programme (EDP). A two-year program I helped develop and now have the opportunity to experience as a participant. Over the next two years, I’ll share every training session—and all my personal struggles, insecurities, and learning moments—with colleagues I have yet to meet. I’m curious about who they are, how long they’ve been with Eneco, and their areas of responsibility. One thing is certain: they, like me, are eager to challenge themselves and continue growing. Together, we’ll embark on this journey. As I pack my bag for the upcoming days, I feel a slight flutter in my stomach. The program begins with a two-day outdoor training at an external location. My completed preparatory assignments are ready, along with warm clothes for evenings by the campfire and sportswear because it’s going to be an active program.”

Talent4All vision at Eneco

At Eneco, we believe that the two-year development program, accessible to everyone within the organization, aligns perfectly with our Talent4All vision. This vision is rooted in the belief that everyone has talent, and we aim to provide a development offering that caters to everyone’s needs. The program currently includes three profiles, allowing every employee to follow a tailored development path.
  • Settle in & Grow – For colleagues with up to five years of total work experience. The goal is to give them a smooth landing within the organization and the energy sector
  • Optimize & Accelerate – For employees with at least five years of work experience, primarily in advisory, specialist, or project management roles, responsible for optimizing processes and products
  • Shape & Innovate – For colleagues with at least five years of experience in expert roles who drive innovation or initiate future-focused projects

The Eneco Development Programme (EDP)

The EDP is a varied and practical program that focuses on personal effectiveness, mental resilience, and prioritization skills. Everything you learn can be directly applied in your daily work, maximizing the learning effect. During the second year, participants work with a team on a current issue within Eneco. This ensures Eneco benefits immediately from the participants’ growth while they apply their knowledge in a challenging real-world assignment.
Groups for each profile start several times a year. These groups consist of employees from a  mix of functions and departments across the organization, fostering valuable cross-pollination, shared learning, and collective contribution to strengthening Eneco.
Each group is guided by a dedicated external coach. Additionally, participants receive training from internal experts on topics like "energy landscape knowledge", "Eneco's strategy," and project & change management training.

Focus on Development

Jessie: "Many organizations have development programs, but these are often limited to high potentials, leaders, or trainees. I believe a development program should be available for everyone, fully aligned with Eneco’s Talent4All vision. It’s amazing that I, as the program manager, had the honor of creating this unique program with a team. It proves that when you believe in something and can convince others of its value, you can make a significant impact within an organization. I’m grateful to work for an employer that gives me every opportunity to bring my ideas to life and invests wholeheartedly in employee development.
Tomorrow marks the start of my two-year adventure! Over the years, I’ve participated in many fascinating training sessions. This time, it feels different because I’m responsible for the content of the program. I feel a healthy level of tension but, above all, I’m excited. Excited to stretch myself, discover how I can add even more value to Eneco, and connect with new colleagues.”
